About Us

Rebels Gymnastics started training in St Anthony’s School Hall in Ballinlough with no gymnastics equipment and around 100 eager gymnasts.  They were hard times and much respect is owed to the children who trained on the cold, hard floor yet still loved gymnastics.

In the following year as we gathered more and more gymnastics equipment and an oversized van we opened up in Mayfield Sports Complex which hasn’t seen gymnastics for 20 years and so is crammed full of raw talent, waiting to be taught.

Not much later we opened in Rathpeacon Community Centre who were equally delighted to see the tradition that started a few thousand years ago in Ancient Greece but who are already familiar with the afro-chinese acrobatic style taught by Ally Futto in the local school.

Not too long later we opened up in Deerpark CBS and now the club is flying. With 4 venues around Cork City we are close to everyone.

Rebels Gymnastics is run by Alan Foley.  He is a qualified Men’s Artistic Gymnastics Judge and a National Squad Coach from Douglas Gymnastics Club.  He competed for Ireland at U12 and U16 levels.  His education in gymnastics brought him to Russia, Italy and Northern Ireland where he learned from several Olympic coaches.
